Flickering Lights

It seems to me that many of us are being annoyed by flickering lights these days. While all lights flicker some, this should be unperceivable. A noticeable flicker could be a sign of a significant issue, but often is not. I've listed below a few common issues that are usually easily resolved.

- Older Dimmer Switches - Many of our homes were built before LED and CFL bulbs were a consideration. Over the years many of us have upgraded to these high efficiency bulbs. However, even if the packaging says the bulb is "dimmable", our older dimmer switches are often not the appropriate technology to do the job. By replacing the dimmer switches, you can often significantly reduce or eliminate the annoying flicker.

- Loose Connections - This can range from a loose bulb somewhere in the circuit to a series of loose grounds. While the latter is difficult to diagnose and repair, many loose connections are simply fixed without invasive or time consuming work.

Hopefully this helps you escape the annoying flickering!

If you need any help or have questions, don't hesitate to call or email.

Thanks,

Mark Oliver
